Human Rights Violations: Lagos CP Warns Officers Not to Smear Reputation – Rights Monitors

The new Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Abiodun Alabi, has repeated his earlier warning to officers and men of the Command against violations of people’s fundamental human rights so as to avoid smearing his hard-earned reputation by their possibly unprofessional conducts.

The Commissioner of Police gave the latest warning while addressing Heads of Departments and Sectional Heads in the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja on Wed Feb 2, 2022.
In a statement made available to Rights Monitors news by the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, the CP concerned about rights of citizens, warned Heads of Investigation Sections against over detention of suspects in their custody, and that they must dispense with criminal cases speedily.

Similarly, he warned administrative office personnel and others to always manage information effectively and be guided by the oath of secrecy when handling official correspondence and other matters.
Finally, in what seemed a piece of fatherly advice, CP Alabi admonished the personnel not to work at cross purposes but to ensure inter-departmental and inter-sectional harmony.
