Comrade Buna prayed at the Public Hearing on the “Street Begging and Street Urchins (Prohibition, Prevention and Rehabilitation) Bill, 2026” held on Tuesday, 15th September, 2026 at the Lateef Jakande Auditorium, Assembly Complex, Alausa, Ikeja.

HURMA was at the Assembly to present its Memorandum on the Bill, urging that the law be human-rights compliant and centred on rehabilitation, not just punishment of the poor.

During the closing prayer, Comrade Buna said:

“We appreciate the mercy of Almighty God and the Universal Consciousness for giving our people here in the House of Assembly the mind to make laws and to address the pains of those we are supposed to be representing.

“We pray that the Almighty touches the spirit of every public office holder, both in the Lagos State House of Assembly and beyond, to become sincerely pro-people spirited, to start living the life of the poor people.

“Everybody here present and outside that has any bad mind, we pray that their mind should be touched to do something that will bring Lagos State to a place where no person will be oppressed, where there will be law.

“Any mind that refuses to change, we pray O Lord, force the mind to change. And those that refuse to be pro-masses in their position, let them be kicked out of office with the supreme authority of God.”

The hall responded with a loud Amen.
