The Human Rights Monitoring Agenda – HURMA appreciates the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Mr. Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for promptly responding to its constitutional responsibilities.

In the public statement presented by the Executive Director of HURMA, Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak, the group acknowledged the general principle that HURMA will continue to constructively point out any observed failure or weakness in governance, while also commending government when it acts in the interest of the people.

“Specifically, the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, promptly responded to our recent demand for the maintenance of status quo in Abule-Eko, Ijede Chieftaincy Affairs in Ikorodu.

“This was attended to swiftly and a directive was issued in that regard, Ref: OLGAS.66/S.4/T/45 dated 6th August 2026, directing that no Baale or Chief should be installed or removed pending further government directive.

“HURMA believes this action will help preserve peace and ensure adherence to the rule of law in Ijede Kingdom”.
