Police Complaint Unit: Human Rights Monitors, HURMA Commends Lagos CP on Reactivation; Pledges HURMA Unit Coordinators Support – Rights Monitors


The leadership of Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA Global Resource Initiative) a mass based Human Rights and Anti-Corruption body has sent a note of commendation and appreciation to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh on his latest initiative of reactivation of the Lagos Police Command’s Complaint Response Unit (CRU) with a view to always receive prompt complaints and information from members of the public.

In an official letter of appreciation to the Lagos Police boss on Monday, March 10 signed by HURMA Executive Director, Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak and the Head of Legal Team, Barrister Lekan.Alabi, HURMA pledges mobilization of the HURMA membership strength with entire unit Coordinators across the state towards ensuring complete success of the police initiative.
The letter with the title:
“REACTIVATION OF LAGOS POLICE COMMAND’S COMPLAINT RESPONSE UNIT”.
A Note of Appreciation and HURMA office Pledge of General Support.” reads:



“We write to express our appreciation to the latest initiative by your esteemed office to reactivate and as well improve on the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) of the Lagos State Police Command. We see this as a good development, especially to support the pro-people daily agenda of HURMA across our unit in the state and beyond.
“According to information released by your office in a public statement, new Information Officers would be appointed at all Area Commands of the state and the officers will work with the Lagos Police Public Relations Office for quick information dissemination.
Part of your statement read:
“The Command is not unmindful of the concerns and complaints of members of the Public about unsatisfactory conduct of few Police officers which is not condoned at any time”.
“Lagosians are further encouraged by your office to promptly reach out to the Lagos State Police Command’s Complaint numbers and social handles, in case of any act of “Right Violation”.
Your statement further pledged to address people’s concerns with the utmost confidentiality, urgency and matters promptly redressed.
“HURMA on the above reality hereby promise to be completely available with our membership strength to see this as a success.
“Moreso, our media channels which include weekly broadcast on Bond FM, Radio Nigeria among other news channels would be dedicated to this initiative that we can boldly recommend to other state across the nation.
“As we welcome you to the Lagos Police Command, we give assurance that our office shall be available for any assistance that your command may further reflect on”.
