SANWO-OLU AND INSECURITY IN LAGOS, MATTERS ARISING on Labe-Ofin (Rule of Law) @ Bond F.M 92.9, Radio Nigeria – Lagosians throw weight behind governor

The response of Lagosians and participants in the live radio Human Rights program “Labe-Ofin” (Rule of Law) by Human Rights Monitoring Agenda HURMA (HURMA Global Resource Initiative) @ Bond f.m 92.9, Radio Nigeria took another turn this week as many came to maintain the position that the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu is sincere with his public pronouncement of crime fighting. It is also most respondents position that whatever the state Commissioner of Police must have achieved so far, is simply a reflection of the governor’s dedication to crime fighting.

On the radio program last week Tuesday, April 27 the issues around insecurity was strongly debated and the Lagos state Governor was concluded to have preferred “spread of hoodlums in Lagos for the party next political ambition.”
In response to the lamentation of HURMA concerning the ineffectual efforts of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in curbing the activities of cult boys. On the radio program “Labe-Ofin” (Rule of Law) at Bond F.M 92.9, yesterday Tuesday May 4 2021, callers who contributed to the live program as directed by Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak of Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA), acknowledged the upsurge in the activities of security corps in tackling cultism in Lagos State which they maintain can not be however divorced from the governor’s desire for same purpose. They cited as an example, the recent arrest of traffic robbery gang members and conspirators at Railway Crossing, Ikeja Along, Ikeja-Lagos.
The police operatives attached to the Strike Team of the Command, on 1st May, 2021, at 2pm, arrested eleven(11) suspected cultists and traffic robbers who were attacking and dispossessing innocent people of their belongings at Railway Crossing, Ikeja Along, Ikeja-Lagos. Suspects where caught and arrested in action while others were arrested at their hideouts around Ikeja Along. They have confessed to the crime. The suspects also revealed that “they attack their targets with iron rods, guns, cutlasses and charms during operation.”

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that the Strike Team profiles the suspects and go after their gang members and conspirators as the command will not spare anyone who engages in any act of criminality, no matter its magnitude.
The Police boss also directed that the Commander RRS, the Commander Taskforce and other tactical Commanders should sectorise the state for easy operation and get rid of traffic robbers and other criminals in order to accord perfect and excellent service delivery as well as effective security to all and sundry in Lagos State.
Conclusively it was agreed that though the effort of the state is felt in curbing crimes, the Lagos State Governor’s effort is still not enough. Every street is still littered with hard drugs abusers which must be checked with all available networks.
