CP ODUMOSU: NO PLANS FOR MASS ARREST IN LAGOS -Rights Monitor
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu has called on general residents to disregard rumours of proposed general raiding across Lagos State, referring to the spreading news as fake .
The was confirmed in a statement that was released in the late hour of Wednesday 5th of February by the state police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana while responding to a statement which was going viral on social media that reads:
“They just informed us from State command that there is going to be general raiding tomorrow and Friday night from 8pm throughout Lagos state…. So don’t stay late at night outside.. Pls tell ur love one’s”.
The state police spoke person debunk this in a press statement made available to Rights Monitors which reads in part:
“Attention of Lagos State Police Command is drawn to a message making the rounds on social media of a planned General Raiding by the Police on Thursday and Friday night from 8pm throughout Lagos state. The information is not only false but mischievous, calculated towards creating fear on the minds of the people. “Lagosians are enjoined to disregard the message and treat it as fake news.”
The state police authority advised the general public to never fall victim of such future threat without a confirmation from the state command and also gave the reassurance of CP’s dedication to secure lives and properties of residents.
“The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu psc is totally committed towards providing safe and secured environment for Lagosians to enjoy more of the night life provided by the State.
“The Command has emplaced round the clock security across the State.”
