“They just informed us from State command that there is going to be general raiding tomorrow and Friday night from 8pm throughout Lagos state…. So don’t stay late at night outside.. Pls tell ur love one’s”.

The state police spoke person debunk this in a press statement made available to Rights Monitors which reads in part:

“Attention of Lagos State Police Command is drawn to a message making the rounds on social media of a planned General Raiding by the Police on Thursday and Friday night from 8pm throughout Lagos state. The information is not only false but mischievous, calculated towards creating fear on the minds of the people. “Lagosians are enjoined to disregard the message and treat it as fake news.”

The state police authority advised the general public to never fall victim of such future threat without a confirmation from the state command and also gave the reassurance of CP’s dedication to secure lives and properties of residents.

“The Commissioner of Police Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu psc is totally committed towards providing safe and secured environment for Lagosians to enjoy more of the night life provided by the State.

“The Command has emplaced round the clock security across the State.”
