The Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA Global Resource Initiative) a mass based Human Rights/ Anti-Corruption organization has issued a 2-weeks final ultimatum to the Lagos State Building Control Agency – LASBCA over its failure to account for a seized property in Badagry and its refusal to respond to official correspondence since December 2025.

This was made public recently on Labe-Ofin: Rule of Law on Bond FM 92.9.

HURMA stated that despite writing to LASBCA since December last year, the agency has claimed “the file cannot be found” and told HURMA officials “not to come again” to check for updates.

“This is administrative wickedness. It shows dirty works going on in LASBCA. Many citizens may have lost their properties through this evil practice of ‘missing files’ and deliberate delay,” HURMA stated.

The organization expressed disappointment that the Ministry of Physical Planning referred the matter back to LASBCA, but LASBCA refused to act.

HURMA also noted public allegations of conspiracy between some LASBCA officials and landlords to eject poor tenants and demolish properties.

HURMA demands that LASBCA, within 14 days, produce the file, give a written position on the Badagry property, and respond officially to all pending correspondence.

“We will not allow overconfidence and impunity to continue. If LASBCA fails to respond, we will escalate to the Governor, House of Assembly, NHRC and the courts,” HURMA warned.
