RIGHTS MONITORS, HURMA HOSTS CONFIDENCE BUILDER FOR THE BLIND AND PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED FOUNDATION, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PWD RIGHTS – Right Monitors

The Human Rights Monitoring Agenda – HURMA on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, hosted the Coordinator and Project Manager of the Confidence Builder for the Blind and Physically Challenged Foundation at the HURMA Central Administrative Office in Somolu, Lagos.

The meeting was part of HURMA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with organizations working for Persons With Disabilities – PWDs in Nigeria.

HURMA leadership in attendance included the Executive Director, Comrade Buna Olaitan Isiak, the Somolu Unit Coordinator of HURMA, Comrade Monsur Akinremi and Miss Semiloore Adaralosho, Office Secretary.
Representatives of Confidence Builder for the Blind and Physically Challenged Foundation in attendant are Mrs. Bukola Modinat Balogun, Coordinator and Project Manager with Miss Oluwafemi Farida Ajibade her Personal Assistant and Exco member.

The meeting focused on possible areas of collaboration and general issues aimed at bringing relief to PWDs, especially in the area of access to justice, welfare, and government inclusion.

HURMA expressed readiness to offer all necessary assistance within its reach to support PWDs both in Lagos State and Nigeria in general.
Also to facilitate government inclusion and implementation of the 5% employment reservation provision in the Discrimination Against Persons With Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2018

The Executive Director, Comrade Buna, also reported the
willingness of Somolu Local Government to support projects and programs targeted at persons with disabilities.

In her response, Mrs. Bukola Modinat Balogun expressed profound appreciation to HURMA for the warm reception and commitment. She promised to convey the positive outcome to other members of the Foundation and expressed optimism for further engagements.

The visit conclusively reaffirms HURMA’s commitment to the protection and promotion of the rights of marginalized and vulnerable groups, and keeps our doors open for strategic collaboration in advancing democracy, social justice, and inclusion for all Nigerians.
