The leadership of the Human Rights Monitoring Agenda (HURMA) is shocked and deeply aggrieved to receive the news of the passing away of Alh. Comrade Taofeek Anifowose, a member of both Ikorodu and Apapa white-sand units of HURMA, in a fatal accident due to a harsh collision with a LAWMA vehicle irresponsibly abandoned on the highway of Eko bridge, along Apongbon at about 6:00a.m on Saturday 15th of November.

After several efforts by friends and relatives, he finally died in LUTH on Wednesday 19th and buried according to Islamic rites on Thursday 20th of November at his family house in Epe, Lagos State.

On behalf of the entire network of HURMA, I convey a heartfelt condolence to all members and to the bereaved family, relatives and friends.
For record purpose, late Alh. Taofeek was a great and respected personality in his chosen field of Tipper-Owner among other areas. A devoted man of God and law abiding citizen. Even when his well trained child and a Quranic memorizer (Afiz Quran) was gruesomely murdered in his neighbourhood at Ikorodu 2 years ago by a suspected cultist (case still under investigation at Alagbon), Alh. Anifowose accepted the incident as the will of Allah and he relied on state investigation for justice.

We indeed share with the bereaved families, the feeling of great loss at this time of deep sorrow.

The accident is yet another call to all members of HURMA among others to continue to monitor general activities of the government to ensure proper deliverance of their constitutional responsibilities to the citizenry and this include improved road safety and transparent infrastructure.

MAY THE ALMIGHTY ALLAH REST THE SOUL OF OUR DEPARTED COMRADE, ALHAJI TAOFEEK ANIFOWOSE IN ETERNAL PEACE.
